Film Language

Todays lecture was all about David Lynch, The themes that were discussed in the lecture were information about David Lynch as a person; filmmaker as a child, filmmaker as painter, filmmaker as filmmaker. Once we had discussed the theme of filmmaker as filmmaker we then watched a short clip of David Lynch’s The Alphabet (1968), I really found that clip strange and weird. After all the themes had been discussed we then moved onto to talk about the film we were going to watch, which was Blue Velvet (1986). As I hadn’t seen the film, I didn’t know what to expect from the film personally I thought the same as from watching the clip from The Alphabet.
