Merry Christmas

So with the deadlines we have been given, I will be doing my dossier for T.V Studio Production and report for Beyond The Camera. The sooner I get them done the better, so I can enjoy the holidays. Also I am going to do some research for  our Applied Media Research module and also open the ballot boxes to find the results from our focus group.

Anyway Merry Christmas Everyone!!

T.V Studio Production

Yet another catch up, but this time for our T.V Studio Production module, so it was our last time filming in the studio for our T.V show. We where filming our music section of our show, the musicians we used where TJ & Murphy as a group we decided that we would get them to play ‘Joe Crazy Rose’. You don’t realise until your in the studio itself how much you change on the day. Sam who was our director had a camera shot ready for filming, but while running through the shots we changed a number of them. To me it felt that if a shot got removed from the camera script I got more shots on my camera, not to be moaning but  I had all the difficult shots zooming and moving the the camera while on my camera shots. But overall filming our show has been an enjoyable experience, once we had finished filming our music section of the show we decided to start to edit our show and music together. When we started to try and edit we had major problems, trying to get the footage off the tape onto the PCs, it did take us a while but we got there in the end!

We also created the titles, Coral had a great idea to which we decided to use, this was to use scrabble letters which spelt out our show name and also would have black swallows, as we had a birdcage on our shows set to go with the french theme of our show. Once we had sorted out the look of the titles, we then decided to pick an up beat song for the title music. We created a title sequence on it owns and then placed it into the shows sequence so that it would play as one. Just as we thought we had finished our show, our tutor looked over the show and made notes of little things we needed to change such as the volume, credits and effects such as fades. Once we had completed the changes we then burnt our show to disc which also took a while, but myself and Coral had massive smiles on our faces once it had finished. We had completed our show with plenty of time so we could just relax and look forward to the viewings of every bodies shows.

Viewings of shows -

So the time finally came for viewing our shows, I had looked forward to the viewings ever since, I seen our brief at the start of the semester. Sadly I missed the first part of the firsts show, but watched all the other shows which I really enjoyed. Each show brought something different to the viewers. This module has made me come out of my shell, I have always thought of myself as being shy and quiet but not anymore! Once we had watched all the shows we had our dossier set, which will consist of 1750 words and has to be completed for the 11th January.

Applied Media Research

Heres a catch up of what we have done in our applied media research module, we had our focus group. We used two ballot boxes and five questions as we planned in previous sessions. I decided I would take my own personal iPad into university for the focus group, which I allowed the volunteers taking part in our focus group to use. Before we started the focus group we where a little unsure on what apps we where going to use, so myself phoebe and michael decided to pay for the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ and also ‘The Million Pound Drop’ so that we can play whenever instead of waiting for TV show to come back on the television. For our focus group we decided, we would ask six people, three would play the million pound drop and three would play the who wants to be a millionaire. While each volunteer played the apps we noticed that the volunteers were nervous while playing them, and also that there was a number of people wanting to watch the volunteers and also join in with them helping with answers. Overall I really enjoyed our focus group, I enjoyed watching people joining together to help out and also to see how people reacted when loosing the game. Most reacted the same way as I would if I was playing myself.

Once I upload the pictures from my camera to the PC, I will most definitely upload them here for you to see.

Beyond The Camera

So I thought it was time to finish this semesters blog as I forgot all about it, I was carried away with all the christmas hype. So here is a catch up of what happened in our beyond the camera sessions, we decided to crack on with completing our audio track for the story video and also to make sure we had enough images to use in our sequence. Once we had sorted both out we started to place the images in time with the story being told through the audio. We also added a couple of videos to also help with the story being told, we decided to add a few affects on the images and text that we used so that, viewers wouldn’t get bored watching the video. As we worked well as a group we got our video done in time for a deadline, thank god! All three of us where happy with the finished result, it made me look forward to christmas. Check out the video below.
