After learning how to use Avid, in our production groups we moved onto planning our ‘People on The Move’ project. Planning the project consists creating a storyboard so that we could build on our story, also creating a production/shooting schedule, booking equipment out to use. Once we planned the project we then moved onto shooting the video, we spent a couple of hours on a Saturday and Wednesday afternoon shooting all the scenes needed. After we had filmed all the clips we then uploaded all our footage on the PC/ Avid software, so that we could create and edit our people on the move sequence.
Once we had placed all our footage into the sequence we started adding effects to the video; blurs, fades, tints, film dissolve. Once we had a rough cut of the video our tutor Camilla watched over it to give us some feedback, she thought the rough cut was really good, but we had to edit a few clips instead of having long clips taking up most of the video and also to add more effects. After we had received feedback we acted upon it we cut some clips so they were a lot shorter, we also added a tint to the whole of the video. Because we thought that the actual footage was too bright and would have ruined the video, were as the video with the tint tells the story. We added a title and credits to the video, the song that we decided to use was Mad World by Gary Jules we edited the track so that it would fit with the clip.
Once we had completed our video we then burnt it onto a DVD so we could present it to our media group. All groups had to present their videos; everybody commented on our video saying it was really good, there were a few of videos that I thought were really good and made me laugh. After everybody had shown their video our tutors explained that they would be watching over the videos and would have a one to one meeting with groups. Our one to one meeting went really well, we spoke about problems that appeared during the project and also the first semester, we also received our grade for our ‘People on The move’ project we received 2.1, I thought this was a good grade to receive on our first project. I really enjoyed the first semester production practice.
